Why Skill Up from Home?

Refresh your skills whilst you are spending more time at home, or learn new skills to keep your workplace skills and certifications relevant. Give yourself the edge over other job candidates with one of our accredited  short courses.

Accredited short courses, units, and skill sets are a great option if you’re a qualified professional who wants to diversify your professional portfolio and boost your resume. An accredited short course or skill set will earn you official credits for the units you complete. These unit credits may even be applied to a related qualification at a later date if you choose to study a full certificate or diploma.

When you complete your accredited unit/s you will earn a Statement of Attainment.

Terrena Hooper

Business, Leadership & Management

Terrena has had extensive experience in vocational training (VET) working in Private RTOs, TAFE and lecturing in Universities.

In conjunction with this teaching experience,  she has been responsible for workplace training, eLearning, organisational development interventions, instructional design and digital learning solutions, as well a business and change consulting.

Terrena’s industry experience in the areas of business and management have been as extensive as her training experiences, maintaining her currency through consulting experiences throughout her entire career. With over 25 years experience in industry and over 15 years in VET and teaching, NCVE is excited to have Terrena teaching out of our Brisbane campus.

Most enjoyable aspect of being a teacher/trainer: The challenge of creating new and different ways to deliver content that promotes understanding and the use of skills in the workplace. The satisfaction of helping all kinds of people learn, grow and achieve their career goals and life dreams. The joy of learning from the wealth of experiences my students bring to the classroom.

Favourite motivational advice: Always try to apply what you are learning to your workplace/real life or link the concepts to your past experience. It will make the topics more interesting , relevant and meaningful. The things you do today are sewing into your future life and reality, so make the learning experiences count. Right now, there are billions of people who would trade your learning opportunity (and life) in a heartbeat – so cherish what you’ve been given and try your best. Most importantly, ask for help when you need it.
