Certificate IV in Ageing Support

Introduction

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support (CHC43015) is designed for individuals who want to build advanced skills in providing care and support to older people. This nationally recognised qualification equips students with the ability to coordinate services, support independence and wellbeing, deliver palliative and dementia care, and work effectively within aged care facilities or community settings.
Graduates will be prepared for roles such as aged care team leader, personal care worker, care coordinator, or community program worker.

Who Should Enrol

This qualification is suited to people who:
  • want to develop advanced skills for working with older people in residential or community care,
  • are already working in the aged care sector and want to take on supervisory or coordinating responsibilities,
  • are looking to gain formal recognition for their industry experience, or
  • are seeking a pathway into higher-level qualifications in community services, health, or nursing.

Units of Competency

Students must complete 18 units of competency, consisting of 15 core units and 3 elective units.

  • CHCAGE001 – Facilitate the empowerment of older people
  • CHCAGE003 – Coordinate services for older people
  • CHCAGE004 – Implement interventions with older people at risk
  • CHCAGE005 – Provide support to people living with dementia
  • CHCCCS006 – Facilitate individual service planning and delivery
  • CHCCCS011 – Meet personal support needs
  • CHCCCS023 – Support independence and wellbeing
  • CHCCCS025 – Support relationships with carers and families
  • CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people
  • CHCLEG003 – Manage legal and ethical compliance
  • CHCPAL001 – Deliver care services using a palliative approach
  • CHCPRP001 – Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
  • HLTAAP001 – Recognise healthy body systems
  • HLTWHS002 – Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Elective Units (delivered by our RTO)

  • CHCCCS001 – Address the needs of people with chronic disease
  • CHCCOM002 – Use communication to build relationships
  • CHCDIV003 – Manage and promote diversity

Course Delivery

This qualification is delivered through a flexible approach to suit different learner needs:
  • Face-to-face training in a classroom setting,
  • Blended delivery using virtual Zoom classrooms combined with in-person support, and/or
  • Online delivery with access to digital resources and trainer support.
All training includes a mixture of theory and practical components, supported by qualified trainers and individual learning assistance where required.
This qualification also requires a mandatory work placement in an approved aged care facility or community services organisation to meet industry requirements. The placement requirement will be discussed with you prior to enrolment by our Student Support Team.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this qualification, students will be able to:

Certification

Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
