Individual Support Short Course – Face to Face

What units will I study?

Three nationally recognised units: CHCAGE013 Work effectively in aged care, HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control, and HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care.

Where is it held?

Face-to-face at our NSW locations including Batemans Bay, Nowra, Goulburn, Wollongong, Campbelltown, Mount Druitt and Parramatta. Check the class dates and book the location closest to you.

How much does it cost?

$660, with Afterpay and ZipPay available. That covers all three units and the face-to-face sessions with your trainer.

Should I do this or go straight to the full Certificate III?

Worth asking us before you pay. Certificate III in Individual Support currently has fee-free places for eligible NSW students — released July and January each year — so if you qualify, the full qualification could cost you nothing while these three units cost $660. This short course is the right choice if you want to test the care sector before committing, if you need something quickly, or if you’re not eligible for a fee-free place. Why face-to-face instead of online?

Because care work is physical and personal, and some things are easier to learn in a room with a trainer and other students than off a screen — infection control technique and safe manual handling in particular. If you’d rather study online at your own pace, we run the same units that way too; ask us for the rolling-start version.

Will I need a police check or NDIS screening?

Not to do this course. You will need them before you work in aged care or disability services, and most employers ask for both — so it’s worth starting the applications while you study rather than after. We’ll tell you which ones apply to the roles you’re aiming at.

Do I get a real trainer?

That’s the whole point of the face-to-face version — a named trainer with care sector experience, in the room with you, for every session. No AI marking your assessments and no helpdesk queue.

Do I need experience?

No — it’s a foundation course for people starting a care career, taught in person by a real trainer.

Does it lead to the full qualification?

Yes. All three units credit toward the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021) as a credit transfer, so nothing you do here is repeated. Because that qualification is priced per unit, credit means you pay less for it later — and if you’re eligible for one of its fee-free places, ask us about going straight there instead. What do I need to enrol?

A USI — a free Unique Student Identifier, get one here — and photo ID. No prior qualifications and no experience required.
