Most online RSA courses sold for NSW come from providers based in Western Australia, Queensland or Victoria. NCVE is a NSW RTO, registered since 2001, delivering across the state.
Only an L&GNSW Approved Training Provider can issue the interim certificate you need for a NSW competency card. NCVE is one, RTO 90283.

You need an RSA competency card in NSW if you sell, serve or supply alcohol at a licensed premises. Liquor & Gaming NSW lists service staff and food and beverage attendants, retail liquor salespeople, winery and brewery staff, promotional staff, and RSA marshals. If you are working in a bar, a bottle shop, a club, a restaurant that serves alcohol, or at a licensed event, you need one.
You have 28 days from starting the role to complete your training. Learners under 18 need parental consent.
A few minutes online. You need a free USI and current photo ID.

Multiple choice, short written answers and a short video task. We can only mark a fully completed submission.

RCG cannot be completed as self-paced online learning. Responsible Conduct of Gambling (SITHGAM022) runs as a live, trainer-led class — by Zoom from home, or face to face at one of our NSW venues. It is a full day with a scheduled start time, so you need to book a date.
When you finish and pass, you receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and an interim certificate that lets you work for 90 days while you get your photo competency card.
On successful completion you’ll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 — Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol, and eligibility for your NSW RSA competency card issued by Liquor & Gaming NSW. For full unit details, visit training.gov.au.

How much is the RSA online course in NSW?
$145 with NCVE. That includes the $107 NSW competency card fee we pay to Liquor & Gaming NSW on your behalf, so there is nothing more to pay at Service NSW. NSW RSA courses generally run $128 to $150 because the card fee is built into the course price by law.
Why is a NSW RSA more expensive than a $49 online RSA?
Because most of the price is the government competency card fee, not the training. Of our $145, $107 goes to Liquor & Gaming NSW for your card and $38 covers your training, assessment and marking. No NSW RSA can cost less than $107. A $49 RSA advertised online is the national unit sold without NSW approval — only an L&GNSW Approved Training Provider can issue the interim certificate that gets you a NSW competency card, and a course from anyone else will not.
Is an online RSA valid in NSW?
Yes, provided the provider is an L&GNSW Approved Training Provider. Online independent learning is one of three delivery formats L&GNSW approves, alongside virtual trainer-led and face to face. All three produce the same Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 and the same competency card.
How long does the online RSA take?
About six hours of learning and assessment, self-paced. You can start immediately after enrolling, stop, and come back — your progress is saved. You have four weeks from enrolment to finish.
How fast will I get my interim certificate?
Usually the same day, if you submit a fully completed assessment before 4pm on a business day. Otherwise allow up to three business days — a Friday night or weekend submission is marked the following week. The interim certificate is valid for 90 days and lets you start work straight away.
Do I have to go to Service NSW in person?
Yes. Within 90 days of getting your interim certificate you must attend a Service NSW centre yourself with your interim certificate and 100 points of ID. Nobody can apply on your behalf. Your digital card is available in the Service NSW app straight away and the plastic card is posted within about four weeks.
Is the competency card fee included, or do I pay again at Service NSW?
Included. You pay $145 to us and nothing further to Service NSW. Under the NSW rules, the card cost is part of the course fee for every approved provider.
Can I do my RCG online too?
Not self-paced. RCG (SITHGAM022) runs as a live trainer-led class with NCVE — by Zoom or face to face — on a scheduled date. If you complete your RSA online with us first, your RCG is $155 rather than $225, and your code and booking link are in your enrolment confirmation email.
My card expires soon — should I do this course again?
No. Renewals go through the free Liquor & Gaming NSW refresher via Service NSW, which takes about 45 minutes. Re-sitting a full course will not extend your card. There is a 28-day grace period after expiry; past that, you do need the full course.
Do I need an RSA to deliver alcohol?
Not RSA — Liquor & Gaming NSW requires separate Responsible Supply of Alcohol Training (RSAT) for same-day alcohol delivery. Check with your employer which one your role needs before enrolling.
Is my NSW RSA valid in other states?
SITHFAB021 is nationally recognised. A NSW RSA is generally accepted in QLD, WA, SA, NT, ACT and TAS; Victoria requires a short bridging course. Card and legal rules differ by state.
What do I need before I enrol?
A free Unique Student Identifier, current photo ID, your own email address, and a device with a camera for the video assessment task. Learners under 18 need parental consent. Get a USI here.
