NCVE (RTO 90283) trains aged care workers for residential, home care and community providers. New carers do the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021), covering ageing and disability, and in NSW can do it as a funded traineeship. Senior staff step up with the Certificate IV in Ageing Support (CHC43015), and existing teams add skill sets. Study is online with a named trainer, we arrange placement, and we deliver Australia-wide.
The rules are different for each, so we treat them as two separate jobs.
Bring on a new carer and train them on the job in the Certificate III in Individual Support. In NSW the training is fee-free for eligible new-entrant trainees who start before 30 June 2027, and you may be eligible for the federal Priority Hiring Incentive of up to $2,500 per eligible full-time trainee. We arrange the placement hours so their training doesn’t stall.
Staff who have been with you a while aren’t eligible for a funded traineeship. Their training is fee-for-service at the employer rate, and we offer two routes. Short skill sets in dementia support, infection prevention and personal care build specific skills without a full course. The Certificate IV in Ageing Support moves experienced carers toward team leader and coordinator roles.
Four qualifications fit an aged care workforce. Each links to its course page, where the student fees and full unit list are published.
Skill sets are short, nationally recognised groups of units. Staff finish with a Statement of Attainment, and the units can count toward a full qualification later.
New starters, current carers and senior staff, and which sites or regions they work across.
Funded traineeship, fee-for-service or skill set. We check eligibility and any units they already hold.
Theory online, a named trainer on the phone, assessment on the job. We arrange placement hours where needed.
See each person unit by unit in the NCVE Client Portal and download certificates for your training register.
For eligible new hires, both can apply. The Certificate III in Individual Support is on NCVE’s Smart & Skilled list, and the training is fee-free for eligible new-entrant trainees whose training commences before 30 June 2027. You pay the trainee’s wages as their employer. A new-entrant trainee is generally someone employed with you for less than 3 months full-time, or less than 12 months part-time or casual, when the training contract starts.
CHC33021 is on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List, so you may be eligible for up to $2,500 per eligible full-time trainee (part-time 50%) under the Priority Hiring Incentive, paid in instalments. If you pay NSW payroll tax, wages paid to new-entrant trainees may qualify for a rebate.
The Certificate IV in Ageing Support is not on NCVE’s Smart & Skilled schedule. It is fee-for-service at the employer rate.
For a new carer not yet placed, we contact facilities on their behalf, anywhere in Australia. A host can still decline someone on a screening result, but nobody is left to cold-call.
Every carer gets a named trainer with aged care experience. They ring them, not a helpdesk.
CHC33021 with us covers both specialisations, so staff can move between residential, home care and disability services.
Early, late and night shifts all work. Study is flexible without the isolation of online-only.
We stay with every trainee until they finish, including those who need extra help with language or confidence. Fewer dropouts means fewer vacancies to refill.
We handle the training contracts, eligibility checks and paperwork. You get progress you can see.
Yes. Your nominated manager gets a login to the NCVE Client Portal. It shows each person’s enrolment status, the units they’ve completed, where each assessment is up to, and completion status. You can enrol new staff directly and download Statements of Attainment and certificates whenever you need evidence of training for your records or an audit.

Not as a funded traineeship. In NSW that’s for new entrants only: generally under 3 months full-time or 12 months part-time or casual with you. Longer-serving staff do the qualification fee-for-service at the employer rate, or pick up a skill set. Tell us who you’d like to train and we’ll check each person.
Yes. Staff already working for you usually complete placement at your own facility. For new carers not yet placed, we contact facilities on their behalf anywhere in Australia. A host can still decline someone on a police check or screening result, and we can’t override that.
On this page, only the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021). Eligible employers may receive up to $2,500 per eligible full-time trainee, part-time at 50%, paid in instalments. The Certificate IV in Ageing Support doesn’t attract it. We’ll confirm your eligibility before you sign anything.
Most assessment is workplace-based. Carers show their skills during normal shifts, and the written theory is done online in their own time. Their trainer works around the roster by phone or one-to-one video, so you don’t lose a shift to a classroom day.
Yes. Recognition of Prior Learning and credit transfer apply to CHC33021 and CHC43015. Carers with years on the floor, or units from another RTO, are assessed against the units, so nobody repeats what they can already prove. Raise it before enrolment and we’ll confirm how it affects each person’s quote.
That depends on the mix of new hires, existing staff and skill sets. Employer pricing starts at our employment-services rate, with volume pricing worked out case by case for larger groups. The calculators on this page show your price once you enter team size and your details.
Yes. CHC33021 and CHC43015 are delivered online Australia-wide and we arrange placement near where each person lives. Smart & Skilled funding and NSW traineeship funding don’t apply outside NSW, so interstate staff are fee-for-service at the employer rate. They still get a named trainer, and you track them in the same Client Portal.
A USI, photo ID and a short language, literacy and numeracy check to enrol. Before placement they’ll usually need a National Police Check, an NDIS Worker Screening Check and any immunisations your facility requires. Staff already working for you will often have these in place.
It suits carers moving toward team leader, care coordinator or senior support roles. It’s 18 units covering service coordination, care planning, dementia and palliative approaches. Carers who already hold the Certificate III or have solid floor experience find it most manageable. We’ll talk through readiness first.
Tell us how many new starters and how many existing staff you’d like to train. We’ll work out each person’s route and come back with a straight answer.
