Certificate IV in Ageing Support

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support provides you with the skills to plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for older people in aged care facilities or through organisations that deliver services to the community and client homes.

With this nationally accredited qualification, you can provide support and personal care to older people and prepare for a supervisory or team leader role in the aged care industry.

This course covers a range of core unit competencies including facilitating the interests and rights of clients, facilitating the empowerment of older people, coordinating services for older people, supporting relationships with carers and families and delivering care services using a palliative approach.To achieve this qualification, you must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement.

This qualification is designed for people who hold a Certificate III qualification or have sufficient experience in the industry. People working at this level will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Graduates may gain employment as a supervisor or manage the performance of other team members including Care Team Leader, High Performing Personal Care Assistant, Program Coordinator or Care Supervisor.

This course is suited to those individuals who are already working in this industry or have already studied in the aged care sector but would like to advance their career.

Course duration

This course can run for a period of 26 or 52 weeks.
