Your first payment of $650 includes your first unit. After that it is $130 per unit as you work through — $2,860 in total, or $2,288 if you pay up front. Afterpay and ZipPay are available.
You only pay for the units you actually do. There is no lock-in and no interest, and you can stop and start as life allows.

Do I have to find my own work placement?
No. NCVE arranges your placement for you and looks for options close to where you live, anywhere in Australia. We contact facilities on your behalf rather than leaving you to cold-call them. Placement is subject to the police check and any screening the host facility requires.
I’ve already done some of this — can I get credit?
Yes. Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer both apply to the Certificate IV in Ageing Support. If you have relevant experience, or you have already completed matching units somewhere else, we assess it — and your fee is worked out on what you still need to complete, so it can come down. Can I pay it off, or do I need it all up front?
You pay as you go. $650 to start, which includes your first unit, then $130 per unit as you work through — $2,860 for the whole qualification, or $2,288 if you pay up front. Afterpay and ZipPay are available, and there is no contract: you only pay for the units you actually do. This qualification is not government subsidised, so this is what everyone pays.
Is this course government funded?
Not this one. Certificate IV in Ageing Support isn’t on NCVE’s NSW Smart & Skilled activity schedule, so it’s fee-for-service: $650 to start, then $130 per unit — $2,860 in total, or $2,288 paid up front. Some of our other qualifications do have fee-free places for eligible NSW students, including Certificate III in Individual Support, so if you’re deciding between the two it’s worth asking us. And if you’re with an employment services provider, they can often cover the fee — tell us who they are and we’ll deal with them directly.
Do I have to find my own work placement?
No. Certificate IV in Ageing Support includes a mandatory work placement of at least 120 hours, and NCVE arranges it for you in a real aged care service near where you live — anywhere in Australia. You don’t cold-call providers hoping someone says yes. We’ll also guide you on the police check and any screening the service needs before you start.
How much does it cost, all up?
You start with $650, which covers your enrolment and your first unit. After that it’s $130 per unit across the remaining 17, so the full qualification comes to $2,860. Pay in full up front instead and it’s $2,288, saving you $572. Afterpay and ZipPay are both available, and there’s no lock-in contract — you only pay for the units you take.
How is this different from Certificate III in Individual Support?
Certificate III is where you start — hands-on personal care, and the qualification most support worker roles ask for. Certificate IV in Ageing Support is the step up: 18 units covering service coordination, care planning, dementia and palliative approaches, client advocacy, and legal and ethical compliance. It’s the qualification for people moving toward team leader, care coordination and senior support roles rather than entering the sector.
Do I need experience in aged care first?
It helps. This Cert IV builds on aged care fundamentals, so students who’ve worked in the sector or hold Certificate III find it more straightforward. You don’t have to have either — we’ll talk through your readiness with you before you enrol rather than letting you start something that isn’t the right fit yet.
Can I do this around a full-time job?
Yes, and most students do — this is a qualification people take while already working in aged care. The theory is online and self-paced, you have up to 12 months from enrolment, and your trainer works around your roster by phone or one-to-one video. The 120-hour placement is scheduled with the host service around your availability.
Can I do this course from outside NSW?
Yes. The course is delivered online right across Australia, and we arrange your 120-hour placement near where you live wherever that is. In-person support is available at our NSW locations — Batemans Bay, Nowra, Goulburn, Wollongong, Campbelltown, Mount Druitt and Parramatta — and everyone gets one-to-one video sessions with their trainer.
English is my second language — is that a problem?
No. There’s a short language, literacy and numeracy check when you enrol. It isn’t a test you pass or fail — it tells your trainer what support you need. Aged care is one of the most multilingual workforces in the country, and you’ll have a named trainer you can phone.
What if an employment provider is paying for me?
That’s common and we handle it regularly. Tell us who your provider is and we’ll deal with them directly on the fees and the paperwork — you don’t have to broker it yourself.
How long does it take?
You have up to 12 months from enrolment and it’s self-paced, so you can go faster. At 18 units this is the largest qualification we offer, so plan for the placement hours as well as the theory. Your trainer sets a realistic schedule with you rather than leaving you to guess.
Do I get a real trainer, or a chatbot?
A named trainer with aged care experience, for the whole course. You can phone them or book a one-to-one video session — no helpdesk queue, and no AI marking your assessments.
What jobs does this lead to?
Care team leader, care coordinator, care supervisor, and senior personal care roles in residential aged care, home care and community aged care. CHC43015 is recognised by employers Australia-wide and is the qualification most providers look for when promoting from the floor into coordination.
What do I need to enrol?
A USI — a free Unique Student Identifier, get one here — photo ID such as a driver licence, photo card or passport, and the short LLN check. A police check and any screening required by your placement service are needed before placement, and we’ll guide you through those.

18 nationally recognised units — 15 core (including coordinating services for older people, dementia support, palliative approach, service planning, client advocacy, legal & ethical compliance, healthy body systems and safe work practices) plus 3 electives (chronic disease, communication to build relationships, and managing diversity).
